FAQ

  • How old do you have to be to learn a musical instrument?

You can learn at any age. We recommend that children 5-7 years of age learn together with their parents. Trial lessons also help to find out if the child is ready for lessons.

Adults can start learning any time.

We recommend one-on-one lessons with the teacher for children 7+ years of age, when children can read and work independently.

  • Are trial lessons available?

Yes, we offer one trial lesson at the cost of $25. It is due 24 hours before the trial. Please contact the principal teacher, Beata on 0499977882 to book a trial lesson.

  • Do I have to buy a piano or a keyboard?

Yes, you do. The teacher will asign homework to practice at home. Most beginners buy a keyboard because it is cost-effective. The requirement for a beginner keyboard is that it has to have 88 keys, and best if the keys are weighted.

  • How often do I practice ?

It is recommended to practice every day. Time will depend on what your goals are. Very young children will require parent supervision and encouragment to practice. That does not mean that they lost interest in music if they don’t practice by themselves. That is where parent support is very important. Best if parent is learning together with the child.

  • How often are lessons and how long is a lesson?

Lessons are once a week. Lessons are scheduled and running during NSW public school Terms. There are no lessons during school holidays. Usually a lesson is half hour, but if you are preparing for AMEB exam a 45minute weekly lesson is highly recommended.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

Each student is eligible for one make-up lesson per term, offered in one of three formats, provided 24-hour notice via sms to the Administrator is given:
1. Face-to-face make-up lesson — offered when another student cancels during the term. The teacher will notify the next student in line waiting for a make-up opportunity. It will be offered for students of all ages.
2. Online makeup lesson — via FaceTime at a mutually suitable time. It will be offered for ages 7+ .
3. Asynchronous make-up lesson — for busy schedules when live scheduling isn’t possible. The student records their homework performance, and the teacher uses the allocated 30 minutes to assess, correct, and provide detailed feedback (either written or video) via WhatsApp or a YouTube link. It will be offered for all ages.
To be eligible for a make-up lesson in any format, please notify Beata via SMS at least 24 hours before the intended absence.
If your child is mildly unwell but able to have a lesson, an online lesson can be held at the regular lesson time. Please advise the teacher via sms as early as possible.
